5 Tried and True Ways to Fight Cold & Flu this Season (Plus Bonus Recipe)

The holiday months are officially here. With days getting shorter and the weather outside colder, the onset of cold and flu season has arrived.

Now, if this were a regular year, 2/3 of us would most likely catch a cold, and close to 10% of us would get the flu. But this is not a typical year. Health experts are still struggling to understand what this year's cold and flu season might look like with the virus still raging. Without a doubt, they are concerned with medical staff shortages, hospitals filling up, and things like PPE being in short supply.

No matter how things shake out, you must plan ahead and do all you can to protect yourself and your family this year. Keep reading for five tips to keep in mind going into the winter months, plus a bonus recipe you must see at the end.

1. Get A Flu Shot

Thanksgiving is the time that the yearly flu generally starts to spread. So make an appointment and get your flu shot before turkey day gatherings.

According to the CDC, the flu vaccines prevents about 4.4 million cases of flu and about 3,500 flu-related deaths. Getting your flu shot also reduces the risk that you'll need to see a doctor this winter by about 60%, reducing the impact on our overworked medical personnel.

2. Avoid Large Crowds

With the holidays upon us, it's challenging to avoid your people altogether. At the same time, if you can limit your contact with people outside your friends and family circle, you can reduce your risk of getting an infection.

Cold and flu spread quickly in tightly confined spaces like restaurants, schools, nursing homes, and houses of worship. If you simply can't avoid a crowd, wear a face mask. And keep your distance from anyone that's coughing, sneezing, or shows any signs of cold or flu.

3. Keep Surfaces Clean

Turmeric Wellness Tonic

  1. Milk – 1/2 ltr
  2. Turmeric Curcumin – 1 Prostavol Turmeric Capsule
  3. Ginger Powder or Fresh– 1/2 tsp
  4. Cinnamon Powder – 1/2 tsp
  5. Cardamom – 4 – 5 seeds
  6. Honey – 2 tsp (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat the milk in a pan
  2. Pull apart to open and empty contents of 1 Prostavol Turmeric Curcumin capsule into the pan
